Wilson Area Intermediate School Additions and Alterations
Wilson Borough, Northampton County, PA
The Wilson Area Intermediate School additions project included approximately 71,000 SF of building additions to replace the existing classroom core of the building. The addition included new classrooms, a new cafeteria, and a new administrative area. In addition to the building additions, new driveways, parking spaces, and a loading dock were also designed and constructed. The project involved stormwater improvements consisting of a collection and conveyance system and a detention facility. Phasing on this project was critical. The existing school remained in use until the additions were completed. At the completion of the additions, students transferred to the new portion of the building and the existing classroom core was removed. The site design also included Erosion and Sediment Pollution controls measures during construction which were reviewed and approved by Northampton County Conservation District. The project falls within a high quality watershed classification and required general NPDES permitting.
